Video footage from a baby monitor in San Francisco shows the frightening moments as the earth shook during Sunday's 6.0 earthquake near Napa.
The quake -- centered about nine miles south of the city of Napa -- struck around 3:20 a.m., knocking power out for roughly 70,000 customers in Napa County and sending more than 120 people to a hospital. Farther south, in San Francisco, the effect was far less severe, but apparently strong enough to rattle a baby room.
The baby boy in the video, posted to YouTube, tosses and turns with the rolling shakes but never wakes up, even as objects in the room rattle. See the video after the cut.
The family didn't report any damage and were "fine," the baby's father, Artem Russakovskii, wrote on YouTube.
People fared much worse in Napa, where 33 buildings were red-tagged and declared uninhabitable. And all Napa Valley Unified School District campuses were ordered to be closed.
Jennifer Patefield, 47, who runs the Mariposa Ice Creamery store in Napa, said she was "jolted" awake and counted to 40 before the motion from the quake stopped.
She described the motion as "like riding a big wave."
Building inspectors with the Governor's Office of Emergency Services planned to assess structures Monday as residents continued to clean up.
Crews were also able to restore power overnight to nearly 70,000 customers.
Jack LaRochelle, the city's director of public works, told reporters Sunday that it may take "a full week" to repair all the city's 60 water-main breaks.
Nearby Vallego also suffered heavy damage.
