ANOTHER BABY FACTORY UNCOVERED IN AKWA IBOM-NSCDC.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) The Akwa Ibom State Command has smashed an organisation which operates fake clinic, where young girls are kept for men to get them pregnant and the children sold after being born.
The Commander of the corps, Mr Pedro Ideba, disclosed this at the weekend in Uyo, when he visited the state Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ), Elder Patrick Albert. He said that the syndicate were well organized, such that once the young girls give birth; the babies are immediately sold to probable buyers.
He added that over 18 suspects were arrested during a clamp-down on the fake clinic located at Ikot Akpan Abia in Uyo the state capital. Three crying babies were also recovered from them without their mothers.
He revealed further that a man was arrested for sexually abusing his 12 year old daughter in one village not far from Uyo. He said that before the incident, his command got information that led to the rescue of 18 teenagers abducted and kept at different locations between Ndoki in Abia state and Oyigbo in Rivers state.
The NSCDC Commander, who said that his visit to the NUJ state Council was necessary because of the need to strengthen the existing relations between his organization and the Union further explained that NSCDC in the state would continue in its war against oil thieves, pipeline and electricity cable vandals and reduce the ugly trend.
State Chairman of the NUJ, Elder Patrick Albert, while responding commended the Commander for his untiring effort in stemming the tide of vandals and oil thieves in the state.
However, he called for closer ties with the media so as to help in publicizing the activities of the Command and other agencies in the state.
