DO YOU THINK AREGBESOLA WON THE OSUN STATE ELECTION?

Governor of Osun State and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Rauf Aregbesola has won the Saturday, August 9, governorship election.His victory was announced early this morning by Prof. Bamidele Omole, INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) Chief returning officer who is also the VC of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

“Having satisfied the requirements of the law and scoring the highest number of votes, Rauf Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress is therefore returned elected,” Mr. Omole declared.


Governor Aregbesola polled a total of 394,684 votes, winning the highest number of votes in 22 of the 30 local government areas of the state: Ayedade, Ifelodun, Ede North, Ola Oluwa, Irepodun, Ila Orangun, Ede South, Atakumosa West, Oriade, Orolu, Boripe and Ilesa West, Ilesa East, Ifedayo, Irewole, Obokun, Egbedore, Iwo, Osogbo, Olorunda, Atakumosa East and Ejigbo.

His closest political rival, Iyiola Omisore of the Peoples Democratic Party, polled 292,747 votes and came second, winning in eight local government areas: Isokan, Ife North, Ife East, Ife Central, Odo Otin, Boluwaduro, Ayedire and Ife South.

The Labour Party candidate Fatai Akinbade received 8,898 votes and placed third.

The official Facebook page of the APC has already congratulated Aregbesola and people of Osun.
