Celebrities at the white house for the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI)

Nigerian celebrities like D’banj, Omawumi, Femi Kuti, Cobham Asuquo, his wife, Victoria Kimani, alongside other African celebs are currently in the United States for the 2014 Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) summit in Washington D.C.President Obama launched the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) in 2010 to support an emerging generation of African leaders as they work to drive economic growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, peace and security across Africa and enhance the civil society structures that will help the continent grow and prosper.

The YALI summit served as a precedent to the inaugural U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit, the largest gathering any U.S. President has held with African heads of state and government which begins, today, August 4th.US-African leaders Summit will strengthen ties between the United States and one of the world’s most dynamic and fastest growing regions.

President Jonathan and a delegation from Nigeria will be attending the three-day-long US-Africa Leaders Summit, August 4-6, 2014, hosted by the US president, Obama.The Nigerian delegation will include governors Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Isah Yuguda (Bauchi), Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa), Gabriel Suswam (Benue), ministers of Petroleum Resources, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Youth Culture and Tourism, while the business elites will be represented by Femi Otedola, Wale Tinubu, Kola Adeshina and many others.
